Dutch Windmill

Dutch Windmills are famous all over the world. I had an eye for this windmill for a really long time. I could see it from the train when commuting to an earlier work I had. This is “Meermolen / De Onrust” built 1809.

This windmill is standing outside one of the first conservation areas in the Netherlands, Naardermeer not far from Muiderslot. The first project for the society Natuurmonumenten was to buy this area 1905. To the north there is a train track and to the east there is the motorway/highway ‘A1’. This is indeed a monument and when you are here you are puzzled how this can still be?

I made this painting in the late afternoon of 10th of October 2010. I painted with oil on canvas.

I moved from Sweden to The Netherlands in 1995.

Here on this site, you find my creations because that is what I do. I create.
