Eight pentagrams in a circle around an octagonal star

Already earlier I talked about octagonal paper cuttings on this blog how it all started. Here is another example of these paper cuttings. This is an octagonal with eight pentagrams in a circle around an octagonal star, really clever.

You get this shape by following the folding instructions turning a square paper into an octagonal.

After you folded the paper you need to copy the drawing of the slice as it is displayed here. When you are drawing the end result will be much better if you know a couple of secrets… That I will reveal here.

On an octagonal shape like this it is important to pay attention to the angles. Carefully making the angles correct will greatly improve the end result. When a cutting is finished it many times consists of stripes of paper forming the shape. Many times when the stripes are making logical lines the result is better. On the slice here I have marked two angles yellow and green. When these two angles are similar the result is better.
