Doctor J.m. Den Uylpark in Almere

Here is a painting from Amsterdamweg direction Doctor J.m. Den Uylpark in Almere. I had biked away to paint and all my oil painting stuff was really heavy. I know it is better to have a plan because then you use the time more efficient. It is not so that everywhere you look in Almere it makes nice scenery for a painting but there are really nice places in between. It is just about finding the right place.

Sometimes the nice places can be crowded and frankly I am not that good painter that I can stand anywhere to paint. On the other hand people are generally really kind when I am painting outdoors so there is not much to worry about, actually.

An idea I got recently is that I should actually find the more crowded places to sit and paint and if people are interested then I should spread marketing for my paintings, give out business cards and flyers. Oh well.

So while biking around I were running out of time. This is a frustrating condition. For this occasion I was looking for the quite place. That is a normally a place on a large open space where you need to walk for a deliberately long time to get to the place where I am sitting and painting. So after all biking this place had to do. Not perfect but it had to do.

Most people don’t bother to leave the path and walk out in an open area to a complete stranger sitting and painting. Kids can do it if they care. Parents are many times much more curios than their kids. They hope their kids will run towards me while painting and then they can use that as alibi for going and have a look for themselves.

Nothing of this happened when I painted this painting. The only living creature making notice of me was an extremely shy cat that was totally surprised by my presence and freaked out and ran away.

And the painting? It is an oil painting on a hardboard panel.

I moved from Sweden to The Netherlands in 1995.

Here on this site, you find my creations because that is what I do. I create.
