Marta on a tree trunk

This model had a long dark braid and somehow I associated her with an Indian girl but that was not correct. There you have it anyway, my association, although wrong. She was sitting on a sofa in the gallery but I did not paint so much of the sofa but I concentrated on the model instead.

I had problems with the proportions of the legs and arms as usual and her face where not at all like the model. But the face had something nice to it so I had to be happy with the result anyway.

In a late stage a colleague at the gallery associated my unfinished sofa with a tree trunk. There you have it, Judits association, although wrong. I started to think about this idea that if the model were sitting on a tree trunk then what was she doing with her leg? Dipping it in water obviously!
