Removed the permalink link

I already told about the words feed and rss that they were populating the top of this sites keyword list in Google Webmaster Tools. After removing those words from the site they have been declining ever so slowly in the keywords list so that for example painting is now more important finally and that is great.

I want Google to see the important words in the top and not some alien words from the blog system. Now it was time for permalink to be erased from the site. I decided to remove the link entirely.

The entire permanent link system is strange from a modern SEO perspective. The filenames as they are presented by default from this blog system and also Blogger are self descriptive so that is good so why provide a link in the form of an anonymous identifier? Back in the early days of internet this was clever, let’s provide the people with a link that stays whatever we decide to do to the page. This is old fashioned thinking these days.

If I rename a link I have to provide redirects anyway so all pages are always permanent. These days you have good descriptive filenames and you nurture these better than your own car. All links are permanent and if they are not then you have permanent redirects to the page. Simple as that.
