Paraffin Waterfall

This is painting of a water fall, a pond of water and trees behind. I used several techniques for this painting:

The falling water is painted with wet on dry technique. To make this I use a paint brush that is less saturated by paint. The strokes are made fast so that the paint will not be collected in the grooves between the grains of the paper. Also in the falling water I used plenty of paraffin wax. I used a candle stick as a chalk. I began with this. It was a white candle and when the paper is treated with this it repels water.

The trees in the background are painted with wet in wet paint.

In the pool in front of the waterfall I also used candle stick. Especially the reflection of the edge of the waterfall got much more paraffin to give an impression of sparkling and reflections. On top of this I pained with wet in wet making horizontal lines with the back of the paint brush to indicate movements in the water.

I made this painting on the 10th of March 2011.

I moved from Sweden to The Netherlands in 1995.

Here on this site, you find my creations because that is what I do. I create.
