Heineken Beer
This painting is the result of a theme evening at Aquarelmere about liquid and glass. So why not beer? Beer is more interesting to paint than water. It has a nice color and it bubbles and it has foam. The bottle has a transparent label and the color of the bottle is playful and suitable to paint with water color.
There is something strange with the perspective in this painting but that does not matter so much because there are a couple of very successful parts on this painting: I used overlapping layers in the glass. That is nice. I have a colorful background and I used salt in this. In the background I have splashed droplets of paint. The droplets falling on the dry part stains the surface and the ones falling in wet paint has been spreading into clouds. There are reflections in the glass and in the bottle. Do you notice the reflection of the metal cap in the lower part of the bottle?
I especially like this painting because I managed to paint it without messing around with the paint and making the paint muddy. No, this painting is crisp, clear and direct. I made this on 17th of March 2011.
Cheers!
