JENS MALMGREN I create.

Sheep in the winter sun

This is an image of a sheep ram standing in a field in the winter. It is in the morning and the sun just appeared over the horizon. This painting displays the transition between two styles of painting. One style is my origin when I paint in an illustrative and precise way. In this style I tend to mess around with the paint because I want to achieve certain forms. The other style is the new Jens. Here I paint fast and direct. The style is nonchalant and elegant.

Here I captured the feeling of snow.  This presentation of snow is based on a good portion of luck but nevertheless, it looks nice. The presence of sunlight comes from the shadows from the trees. If you experienced winter mornings like these then you know what this is about. When walking in this snow you would hear how the snow crunches under the shoes.   This is one of the first paintings where I used Windsor & Newton Orange paint. This orange is fantastic for painting sunrises and sunsets.

In a number of blog posts from here on I will work my way through a pile of aquarelle paintings that I made from March 2011 and onwards at Aquarelmere until the summer of 2011. This painting with the ram in the snow was made 3rd of March 2011.

I moved from Sweden to The Netherlands in 1995.

Here on this site, you find my creations because that is what I do. I create.
