Glass Carafe
This was an exercise in painting glass. Glass is an unforgiving material for someone beginning with painting. Light spreads through glass according to a very precise logic and if you don’t pay attention to line curving’s then it will not look like glass. The glass objects are often symmetric and that is also a challenge in itself.
In the first layer the background was painted. I left white were the glass would display the table and I left white spots for the highlights.
In the second layer the lines of the wood panel was painted and the darker areas of the glass.
I made this painting 2007.
