Three ceramic objects

This is a still-life painting of three ceramic objects; to the left a bowl, in the middle a vase and to the right a cup. The background is painted in a warm matching color. I have this painting exhibited at my work. I see it every day and it is so simplistic and yet so sophisticated. When I had finished this painting I remember that I was delighted with the result but I did not see it as anything special at that time.

Only long after I think I get to understand why this is a good painting. It has contrast to start with. That is important to a painting. All aquarelle paintings were I have been able to produce a great contrast it has become a good painting.
