Gourd with terra cotta pots

This painting displays an gourd and big terra cotta pot. Next to the big pot you see a smaller terra cotta pot lying on the side. Then in front of the small pot you see a number of leaves. That gourd was a strange vegetable. The strange form catches attention and disturbs the painting. “The pots are nice but that strange green object - what is it?”
