Queen Beatrix
This painting comes from a theme evening at aquarelmere. Jaap come up with the idea for a method to get us kick started in painting portraits while cheating a little bit. To prove that we all were able to paint someone that everybody can recognize he had been making copies of a photo of the queen o f the Netherland.
Then he gave us big led crayons. We were instructed to make the back of the photo all gray with the led crayon. Then we had to draw the details of the face while the photo was lying on the aquarelle paper and so features of the photo where copied to the paper. The rest of the evening we could concentrate on painting the queen instead of drawing her.
After this exercise I had made up my mind. I was going to learn more about painting and drawing models and portraits and I was going to understand how to do it right.
I moved from Sweden to The Netherlands in 1995.
Here on this site, you find my creations because that is what I do. I create.
