Vases
This series of four aquarelles is painted really quickly. At the time I painted these I had no special intention but I just made a painting and then rearranged the items and painted again. Now a year later I let my fantasy loose and I tell you what associations the paintings are giving me today. Here are the vases distinctive. Three are standing closer to each other. One is standing a bit further away. I associate to a playground when I see this image. The thick vase is the leader of the team and the red vase is the outsider. The thick vase has two supporters, the blue and the pearl vase. On this image the perspective is a bit from above, as if the viewer is trying to find out what is going on in this situation?
On this painting the vases are less distinctive compared to the previous painting; as if this is a picture from a dream. There is more space around the vases while each vase is standing closer to each other. Another difference with the previous painting is that the vases are displayed less from above and more from the side. There is a distance to the items. The vases form a group and the viewer is the outsider.
On this image there is less empty space in the foreground so that the vases are closer to the viewer. There is a new member of the group, a glass bottle. It is taller and it is standing in the middle of the group. It is as if the vases are gathering around the new member of the group maybe because it is a tall and handsome glass bottle and not just a ceramic vase.
Here is the grand finale of the vases.
